Position: Professor
Prof. Mohammed Azmi Al-Betar is a distinguished academic leader and internationally recognized researcher, currently serving as the Head of the Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AIRC) and Coordinator of the Master of Artificial Intelligence (MSAI) program at Ajman University, roles he has held with distinction since 2020. He also leads the Evolutionary Computation Research Group (ECRG), under whose leadership the group has produced over 300 high-impact scientific publications in top-tier international journals and conferences.
In recognition of his exceptional and sustained contributions to Artificial Intelligence and Computational Intelligence, Prof. Al-Betar has been ranked among the world’s top 2% of scientists by Stanford University for four consecutive years (2021–2025)—a testament to his global research influence and scholarly excellence.
With more than 19 years of higher education experience, Prof. Al-Betar has delivered and developed a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence, significantly shaping academic curricula and mentoring future researchers and professionals.
Prior to joining Ajman University, he held several senior academic and administrative leadership positions at Al-Balqa Applied University, Jordan, including Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs, Deputy Dean of Scientific Research for Quality Assurance and Development, and Head of the Information Technology Department, where he played a pivotal role in institutional development and academic quality enhancement.
